Have you ever noticed that when one thing goes wrong, everything tends to start getting harder? It can't just be one thing. You trip on the carpet right after you get out of bed, then the water just won't get as hot as you want it in the shower, and on it goes.
Well, that is what started to happen to me this morning. I just had one little thing start my day of a little harder than I thought it should, then I found myself running late for an appointment, traffic wasn't helping at all, and so on.
That's when I remember to take a deep breath and clear my mind. Yes, I know that sounds a little too simple to work, but it really does. Taking the time to literally stop what you are doing and breath deep and slowly will actually calm you down. Just like pressing Ctl, Alt, Delete on your computer can, stop a cascade of issues, slow breathing restarts you.
No, I didn't come up with this myself. A wonderful woman who is a mentor of mind use to find it most interesting watching me run around like a chicken with it head cut off. She thought that I would just run myself out and then I could listen and find a better way to get my stuff down. When I finally asked her how I could not get so flustered all the time, she told me to breathe.
So simple, yet wonderful. So the next time you are at your wits end. Breathe
